The centre was founded by local volunteers in 1976, and has operated continuously since then with the financial support of the Citizens Information Board and the many volunteers who have contributed through the years.

This year 8,000 people have already used our services in person, by phone or email.

What we offer

During our conversations with clients, the Blanchardstown & Dublin 15 Citizens Information Centre tackles a wide spectrum of issues.

For example someone loosing their job would prompt us to explore the areas of:

  • employment rights (redundancy and selection for redundancy)
  • social welfare entitlements (job seekers′ benefits or allowance)
  • health related payments (e.g. medical card, rent supplement or mortgage interest supplement)
  • education and retraining (FAS courses, local employment services)
  • implications with immigration legislation (if the person is on a work permit)
  • initial exploration of issues of debt or taxation (such as tax refunds due to loss of work) and referral to appropriate agencies if necessary.

Often the first point of contact for people seeking information and clarification on a new situation arising in their lives, we advise people on their entitlements, assist in making claims for allowances and benefits or put them in contact with relevant organisations. Read more about Our services.
